Parent-teacher partnership management : Enhancement and development parental competence -

In this paper the author speak of the need to research family functioning as well as of the need of education in the area of acquisition of family competences, all the way to the need of the management of partnership between parents and children on the one hand and parents and school on the other. The objective of this part of the research within the scientific project entitled” Pedagogical aspects of family relations” that is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, was to study the self-perception of parents on some basic competences in communication, emotional, social as well as the competence of discipline establishment. What was also researched was the social, emotional and educational status of parents, which we suppose to be in high correlation with competences and the satisfaction with cooperation with the school. We especially examined the time dimension of the daily contact of parents with their child. Three schools were chosen for this research while the sample of parents questioned was of the size n=100. The obtained results point to the need of a social action of a constructive, permanent education of parents as well as the encouragement of schools in the creation and implementation of the program of school- parent partnership, implying new paradigms that redefine static and objectivistic relations regarding the needs and possibilities of establishing cooperation. The author of the paper quotes some basic objectives of such a partnership regarding the very parents and the immediate social environment.
