Effect of low dose gamma-radiation upon antioxidant parameters in heart and skeletal muscle of chick embryo
This study was performd to investigate the effect of low-dose gamma-irradiation upon activity of glitathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, catalase and level of glutathione and lipid peroxidation in heart and skeletal muscle of chick embryo and newly hatched chicks.Fertilised chicken eggs were irradiated with the dose of 0.3 Gy gamma irradiation on the 19th day of incubation. The obtained results suggest that acute irradiation at dose of 0.3 Gy causes an oxidative stress in all types of musclesimmediatly after irradiation.
