HEAT TREATMENT BY ANNEALING USE QUESTIONABLENESS AFTER DISSIMILAR MATERIALS WELDING BY EXPLOSION

In article introduction, is the history of explosion welding (EW) theories development shown. Application of Gurney equations is in chapter on explosive parameters and shock effects presented. In analysis of bonding theory, so-called "welding windows" parameters are pointed out, since the main requirement to achieve the best quality welds is accurate calculation of EW parameters. Questionableness of post weld heat treatment (PWHT) use by annealing is analysed researching in field of influences on mechanical properties of some dissimilar joints especially on joint strength as well as on level and nature of residual stresses. The joint strength is through joints shear strength testing evaluated. The relaxed deformation measurement on clad plate surface was by applying centre-hole drilling method using special measuring electrical resistance strain gauges (rosettes) performed. The distribution of residual stresses on cross- section of specimens was determined using surface layer removal procedure. Since PWHT supports diffusion what dissimilar materials joints strength weaken as well as that used annealing did not show any significantly reducing of residual stresses, its use is questionable.
