WindLoad2D
WindLoad2D is a program code developed to study the hydro-aerodynamic characteristics of two dimensional shapes i.e. solid profiles (e.g.: cross section of bridges, cross section of bridge piers, cross section of windshields, …). For this purpose the characteristic based split algorithm is used to numerically integrate the system of Navier-Stokes equations. The temporal discretization is performed in the traditional way by the finite difference method and the spatial discretization of the flow domain around the solid profile is discretized by finite elements. Particularly, the constant strain triangles are used for this purpose. In order to speed up the computational procedure and in a same time to allow the use of an unstructured mesh (with relatively small finite elements around zones of spatial interest), the local time stepping procedure is implemented. WindLoad2D support both explicit and implicit time integration. Thereby, the explicit time integration is executed through an original and dedicatedly developed procedure for matrix storage and matrix – vector multiplication which can considerably reduce the computational time. On the other hand, the system of equation obtained by implicit time integration is solved iteratively by the conjugate gradient method (with matrix preconditioning).
