To provide successful operation of a system for injection moulding of polymers, it is very important to achieve its heat balance. This requires obtaining a homogeneous temperature field in the moulds for injection moulding of polymers, which is the factor of greatest influence on the quality and productivity of moulding. The work describes the temperature field regulation from the point of view of the cavity wall temperature regulation. Because of the nature of the heat exchange process, it is possible to regulate the cavity wall temperature by inserting a temperature sensor with its tip at a defined distance from the cavity wall in contact with polymeric melt. Determining of the optimum position of the temperature sensor is particularly emphasised. Therefore, a mathematical model has been developed for defining the measuring point of the temperature sensor in the mould. Computer simulation of optimum positioning of the sensor depending on the allowed amplitudes of temperature oscillations in the mould temperature field has been performed.
