The influence of the catalyst type on catalytic cracking products yield and distribution
The influence of the catalyst type on the distribution of catalytic cracking products has been determined. The selectivity curves for all products were established, with special accent on the LPG fraction composition and its applicability in alkylation and oxygenate (MTBE) production. The experiments have been performed according to the microactivity procedure MAT ASTM D-3907, with two commercial FCC catalysts and with gas oil as feedstock, at c/O ratio from 2,25 to 3,75, and at temperature of 482 C.The selectivity curves show some higher yield of gesoline, as well as lower of the LPG fraction for the higher rare earth catalyst. The P/O ratios for the LPG fraction indicate that olefinicity of LPG increases with a lower rare earth catalyst due to the enhanced cracking reactions with simultaneous decrease of hydrogen transfer reactions. The ratios of isomerization/hydrogen transfer exhibit an increased probability of isobutene foramtion at the expense of isobutane for the catalyst with lower hydrogen transfer potential. Also, it was confirmed that hydrogen transfer is one of the reactions responsible for coke formating in the FCC process. Thus, the catalys with lower hydrogen transfer potential exhibited a lower coke-making tendency per unit of conversion.
