Biostratigraphical Correlation of the Deposits of Southeastern Part of the Krk Island
Four lithostratigraphic units have been separated within the deposits which built up the southeastern part of the Krk island. The first one is the unit of the Limestones with dolomites and breccias, chronostratigraphically corresponding to the Middle and Upper Cenomanian. The second unit of the Light-grey and white rudists limestones, comprises the Lower part of the Turonian. The third unit comprises the Foraminiferal limestones of the Lower and Middle Eocene. The last unit is composed of the Paleogene-Neogene breccias. At the base of geological profiles, stratimetrically measured geological columns and the distribution of the most important microfossil taxa, biostratigraphical correlation with some other localities of the Adriatic carbonate platform has been carried out.
