Gene expression in plant cell culture - possible applications
In the paper it will be presented some results obtained by investigation within the framework of two projects: 119098 Gene expression in plants and 119113 Signal molecules in plant development. The main objective of the projects is to determine factors which trigger differentiation, morphogenesis and tumorigenesis in the cell cultures of: Cucurbita pepo, Coleus blumei, Armoracia lapathifolia, Beta vulgaris and Picea omorika. Some of these species are also pharmaceutically interesting, so in a paralell with the results of differentiation, the data of natural compound production by cell cultures (peroxidases in horse-radish, beta-cyanine in sugar-beet, rosmarinic acid in Coleus transformed tissue lines) will be showed.
plant cell culture; normal and transformed cells; natural compound production; differentiation; morphogenesis
