GIS Application in the Water Management
In the last decade geographical information system (GIS) has become very present in the water management, especially in the field of hydrology and soil science because of great amount of data spread on the wide area. This paper will present some of the GIS applications related to the water management. All examples are made for the Karašica and Vučica river basin in the eastern, mostly agricultural part of Croatia. Because of the great importance of water management in agriculture GIS is applied on presentation of topology, hydrography, soil types, land use, arrangement of annual precipitation and runoff values in the basin and water quality measurement stations of open water courses. In this paper a basic principles of the SCADA information and management system, as an additional part of GIS, will be given.
