Canonization of St. Agostina Pietrantoni-a contribution to the affirmation of nursing
St. Agostina was a Sister of Charity and a hospital nurse. She was cruelly murdered by a mentally disordered patient suffering from tuberculosis while she was performing her duties at the ward for tuberculosis in the Holy Spirit Hospital in Rome in 1894. She was beatified in 1972 and canonized in 1999. considering that St. Agostina Pietrantoni hasn't been proclaimed a patroness of any specific profession, the authors think she could be the most appropriate patroness of nursing, especially the celestial patroness of all hospital nurses.
