Resilience of Diokletian's Palace - Myth or Reality?
The paper deals with the nature of genesis of Diocletian's Palace through the aspects of its spatial and functional resilience, as well as the nature of the relation between the private and the public, assuming the role of a mediator between these two attributes, i.e. defining their dialogue. Some interesting sequences of development or planning serve to illustrate the maturing of the attitude towards the Palace, primarily towards the process of transformation that has imposed itself as a developmental and metaphorical imperative. A brief survey of the method and the results of students' projects in the workshop would seem to indicate the irrelevance of a rigid definition of the process.
