Analysis of wear of worm press parts in conditions of aggressive media

The influence of tribocorrosion wear of working parts of screw presses which occurred as a result of the aggressive action of the treated oil seeds was analyzed. The wear analysis was performed on working parts of presses which are made of cast steel and austenitic stainless steel. Wear is manifested in damage of contact surfaces in gear housing and carrier of knives in extraction cage. The chemical composition of the base material, corrosion behaviour, mechanical properties and microstructural analysis of samples were carried out for the purposes of the experimental work. On the basis of results comparison in operation and in laboratory testing, it is estimated that steel 316L and 304L with nitrated surfaces have a atisfactory resistance for the conditions of tribocorrosion wear.
