Nejednake jedinice mjere u napjevima čvrstog ritma i osjetom prihvatljivi ritamski dijelovi napjeva u slobodnom ritmu u Hrvatskoj
In traditional music of some Croatian regions, one can find metrorhythmic patterns consisting of unequal beats. The term additive rhythm for such unequal metrical units is not appropriate. Developing Émile Jaques-Dalcroze's method of notating such rhythms where the numerator in the fraction indicates the number of metric units and the denominator shows the duration of an individual unit - as early as in the 1970s, the author's transcriptions used also to include in the denominator an arrangement of unequal metric units. Examples taken from Croatian rtaditional music illustrate such an approach in the notation of unequal metrical units. The second part of the essay demonstrates the perception of the tunes in free rhythms. Transcriptions of one older and two newer examples based on free rhythm demonstrate Andreas Heusler's 1925 definition of rhythm, which is based on human sensibility for comprehending both free and strict rhythm.
