Antifungal and antiochratoxigenic properties of new synthetized analogues of dehydroacetic acid
The effect of dehydroacetic acid (DHA) and its new synthetized analogues, 4- hydroxy-3-(p- toluoyl)-6-(p-tolil)-2H-pyrane-2-one (DHT) and 5-bromo-4-hydroxy-3-(p- toluoyl)-6-(p-tolil)-2H- pyrane-2-one (BrDHT) on growth and ochratoxin A accumulation by Aspergillus ochraceus NRRL 3174 was studied in yeast-extract-sucrose (YES) medium to determine the possible use of these compounds as a means of controlling ochratoxin A accumulation. Experiments were carried out in a stationary culture at temperatures of 15 oC and 25 oC, respectively during 20 days. Mycelial dry weights were determined gravimetrically, and concentration of ochratoxin A was quantitated fluorodensitometrically using a Camag TLC Scanner. Concentrations of DHA and DHT of 0, 1 and 0, 2 mmol x times x L-1 respectively stimulated, but concentrations higher than 0, 5 mmol x times x L-1 of these compounds, mould growth and ochratoxin A synthesis partially inhibited. In experiments with 0, 2 mmol x times x L-1 of BrDHT mould growth and synthesis of ochratoxin A were inhibited completely depending on time and temperature of cultivation.
DHA; DHT; BrDHT; Aspergillus ochraceus; ochratoxin A
