Social Responsibility in Croatian Architecture - Activist Architectural Practice in the first decade of the 21st century
The paper synthesizes research using the 7 core subjects and 7 principles of social responsibility of ISO 26000 and tries to discuss social sustainability issues and actions in Croatian architectural agency. Platforma 9.81, interdisciplinary oriented association ; Pula Group, politically oriented association and Archisquad, association focused on direct work with people ; are observed. The study shows that an activist architectural practice in Croatia has a positive effect on contemporary Croatian society and makes it sustainable and socially responsible. Information and education, projects and programmes, lectures and panel discussions, exhibitions, consultations and other mechanisms of action spread the social responsibility, openly criticizing the wrong politics of spatial development and developing underdeveloped strata of the society. Its work covers all aspects of sustainable social development: equity, participation, empowerment, social mobility and preservation of culture.
