Ragweed in Croatia - correlation between distribution and airborne pollen
According to the «Inventory & Monitoring Protocol – IAS Programme» we have started with preliminary actions against invasive alien plants in Croatia. As the first Survey Level we prepared: national standards, preliminary list of IAS plants and the module “Allochthonous plants”, specially developed and incorporated in the Flora Croatica Database – FCD (http://hirc.botanic.hr/fcd/InvazivneVrste/) as a publicly accessible web service. As there is no ogranised efforts in ragweed monitoring on a national level, we have started with several case studies in both continental and mediterranean areas of Croatia. Simultaneously, airborne pollen monitoring is going on throughout continental and mediterranean parts of Croatia. Those facts make possible data comparation, both about ragweed distribution and pollen concentrations at the same area. Therefore the aim of the present study was to represent the presence of Ambrosia taxa in Croatia and to compare correlation betwee ragweed distribution and its airborne pollen data for both continental and mediterranean parts of Croatia.
