Kundera's Laughable Loves (Smĕšné lásky) - from absurd to comic elements in erotic allusions
Milan Kundera, a Czech-French writer, publishes a collection of seven short stories in Czech, entitled Laughable Loves - Smĕšné lásky (1963 -1969). The stories talk about tragicomic love fortunes, which reveal the power of prejudice and illusion, where the erotic play pushes human primordial urge to the end of nature's boundaries, using irony to reveal the truth. The connection between aesthetic and moral values is transformed in the human identity, which experiences a metamorphosis by looking towards the mirror. Laughter that turns to tears, through jest, frolic and pleasure in everyday life, speak in favor of contradicting or approving of the weight of recognition of what we are like in relation to the society around us.
