On problems in DGPS data processing
Nowdays, differential GPS (DGPS) using code ranges is widely used to counteract much of the effect of Selective Availability (SA) and other biases. Accuracies at the meter level or even better are reported for local applications. However, outliers of tens of meter occur in some cases. The paper investigates such gross errors in order to increase the reliability of the results. In detail, three issues are treated: Doppler-aided smootihng of code ranges, weighting strategies in the positioning process, and ambiguity detection and repair in measured C/A-code ranges. Specific software has been developed at the Technical University of Graz for this purpose. The improved approach yields reliable positional accuracies at the submeter level for small-sized areas using smoothed code ranges.
