Processing kinematic data using RINEX format
In accordance with the fast development of GPS hardware and software, relative kinematic techniques using phase are widely applied in surveying. At the same time, more and more different hardware and software are on the market. For the data transfer between receivers and software packages, the manufacturers generally use their own data format. In order to test receiver and software performance in the kinematic mode as well as the possibilities of combining different equipment, the use of RINEX format for data storage and transfer was investigated. For this purpose the RINEX formats of seven different manufacturers and institutions (Allen Osborne Associates, Astronomical Institute of University Bern, Ashtech, Geotronics, Leica, Topcon, Trimble) and their compatibility with four software packages (Ashtech GPPS, Geotronics Geotracer, Leica SKI, Trimble GPSurvey) were analyzed. During the investigations differences in the formats were detected which prevented combined data processing. This differences were analyzed and the disabling cuses were determined. Consequently, an apropriate computer program (RAPP) for the adaptation of RINEX data files was developed.
