A Portfolio Selection Model of the Slovenian Securities Market
The purpose of this study was to perform a portfolio selection of the Slovenian bond market, stock market and securities market including stocks and bonds in 1993. Using the Markowitz portfolio selection model it was shown, that it was possible, in terms of expected return adn risk, measured by standard deviation, to find a minimum variance portfolio, consisting of bonds and stocks, which has lower risk, than any securities included, as well as portfolios made up bonds and stocks only. But when applying such models in practice several restrictions, such as lack of of liquidity or legal requirments concerning portfolio structure, are to be taken into consideration.
