INTERNAL STAFFING, ORGANIZATION AND CRISIS PLANNING:CASE STUDY CELEBRITY CRUISES

Cruisers, the so-called 'floating hotels' are in a continuing search for personnel who should possess certain knowledge and skills to create and provide superior and competitive offer. The aim of this paper is to point to the importance of planning and organizing the structure of employees, and its implementation on the example of Celebrity Cruises. The authors attempted to investigate the types and significance of business functions on cruisers through the comparison and analysis on various companies. Also, the length of work experience of staff and the level of their education is to be explored. Crisis planning and drawing up the plan is a strategic position in the company's cruise business, particularly considering the increasing number of accidents and emergencies. Business behaviour of employees is part of the cruise company's business code. Specialties of Celebrity cruises are presented through the basic standards of employees’ conduct required to create a unique corporate culture. The research results indicate the interconnectedness of employees and size of the cruisers. Work experience of employees is associated with periods of longer than five years ; the largest number of employees is on administrative business functions (66% of employees) with a completed college education (55% of employees). Employing staff on cruisers includes a predetermined profile of employees who are particularly motivated to be part of a large family, to minimize fluctuations in quality staff and thus the time needed for adaptation and training of new employees.
