T-Pot Monograph

The book T-Pot Monograph was written within the project FP7-REGPOT-2008-1-229801: T-Pot, Unlocking the Croatian Textile Research Potentials. The main goal of the T-Pot project was to unlock the research capacity of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology and its Textile Science Research Centre. For that reasons several specific objectives were determined and successfully fulfilled, during the project lifetime: February 2nd 2009 –February 29th 2012 During this period, the sector of textiles and clothing went through changes due to the permanent process of its restructuring and modernization. This restructuring involves, first, the adoption of new technologies and new modes of work organisation to increase the number of produced commodities and productivity itself. Second, cost-sensitive operations that are difficult to automate are transferred to low wage areas to keep costs down. Activities are also relocated to seek out new cheaper sources of materials and components. Third, to preserve its role in global markets emphasis is also placed on the development of new brands that command higher prices relative to costs or that can secure a larger market share or development of new products involving the use of new manmade fibres and technical textiles. Technical textiles are particularly significant, since they involve the development of new kinds of product and are suited to new uses in, for example, the transport sector, furniture and furnishings, construction, so as in personal protective equipment sector. Due to these facts, so as due to the significant number of Croatian SMEs working within the personal protective equipment area, this particular sector has been chosen as one of the smart specialisation topics, equally important for the unlocking of Croatian R&D and SMEs potentials. The book is structured in 3 chapters, enabling complete overview of the project lifetime. Chapter 1 covers Project data and gives full information on project objectives, project partners and description of project activities gathered in six work packages (WPs). Chapter 2 describes Project results, enabling detailed information on activities, performed by project members, either from TTF or from T-Pot partnering institutions. Major part of the results within WP2 consists of individual reports of researchers who came back from the research secondments performed at the premises of partnering institution. VI Chapter 3 explains Projects impact, separately giving data on its strategic impact and additionally explaining its dissemination activities. Complete list of disseminating activities performed during the project lifetime is given in ANNEX 2, while ANNEX 1 gives data on Croatian SMEs within the personal protective equipment sector which have been actively involved in project activities.
