The role of the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency in the Croatian energy sector

The Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency (CERA) is an autonomous, independent and non-profit legal person with public authority to regulate energy activities in the Republic of Croatia. The harmonization of the four Croatian energy acts (i.e. the Energy Act, the Act on the Regulation of Energy Activities, the Electricity Market Act and the Gas Market Act) with the European Union's third energy package was conducted at the end of 2012 and at the beginning of 2013. The origin of regulation of energy activities in Croatia and CERA's organization are explained in the paper. CERA's role and obligations according to the new Croatian energy legislation are described as well.
