Networking in Cultural and Creative Sector: Application of Network Analysis
The role of cultural and creative sector has become recognized as the driver of economic growth in advanced economies and postindustrial societies. From the network perspective, the process of production (and distribution) of cultural goods and services can be understood as embedded in social networks. The presentation will demonstrate how social network analysis can be useful research tool in this field. There are several advantages of possible implementation of social network analysis: (1) it can provide conceptual definitions of 'social networks', 'network structure' and other network properties (such as diversity, connectedness of the network, cohesion and density) ; (2) it can be used for accurate description and analysis of relevant structures and relations ; (3) most advanced research techiques can help to understand network formation and network effects on innovation and creativity ; (4) it can contribute to evidence- based cultural and urban policy-making.
