Comparison of wheel and crawler tractor drawbar performance on silty clay
Paper showes results of testing drawbar performance of wheel and crawler tractor with engine power of 75 kW and 76 kW respectively in ploghing silty clay soil. Crawler tractor achieved maximal drawbar pull of 37.4 kN at 3.5% tracks slip, while wheel tractor achieved maximal drawbar pull of 33.4 kN at 30.7% wheel slip. Besides mentioned statement crawler tractor achieved 10.7% greater drawbar power with efficiency coefficient of 0.713 while wheel tractor achieved 0.653. Crawler tractor had fuel consumption per hour 18.0 kg/h while wheel tractor had 17.9 kg/h. But due to better efficiency crawler tractor"s specific fuel consumption was 332 g/kWh and wheel tractor"s was 365 g/kWh.
