Systemic analysis of thermal mould calculation for injection moulding of thermoplastics
The mould development for injection moulding of thermoplastics needs to be considered with special attention, since the mould is the central element to the injection moulding system. Within methodical and systemic approach of injection mould development, it is necessary to perform adequate mould calculations. The most demanding is the thermal calculation. It needs to be divided in several blocks, and for every one of them the input and the output parameters are determined. Within thermal calculation, the adequate temperatures and duration of particular injection moulding process phases are determined, the thermal balance of the mould is defined, the parameters of the mould cooling/heating system are determined and optimisation of the cooling/heating system is performed. Every calculation block could be shown by means of systemic model, which offers better review of the calculation and adequate calculation sequence. By means of the systemic model, the designer can determine which activities need to be performed, in which order and which results are expected. This paper presents systemic review of thermal calculation of mould for injection moulding of thermoplastics.
