"Strategies of Internationalism in Croatian Ballad Scholarship. The Balkanic Ballad, Mediterranean Horizons"
The article tries to point to some negative consequences which the essentialist definitions of the notions of genre and cultural areal might have had on theoretical consideration of the genre. The influence which the culturological interpretations of Croatian ballad tradition, viewed as Balkan or Mediterranean, have had on genre considerations are also taken into account. The accepting of the fludity of ballad genre and consideration of the fact why the ballad stories are told/sung, without trying of unifying unperfect "real" genre with the "ideal" one is seen as one of the possible solutions of the breaking trough the (postcolonial) crisis of subject.
