Using the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages (EPOSTL) to Monitor and Promote the Development of Student Teachers’ Self-Awareness
This article looks at the issues of self-awareness in student teachers of English and German as foreign languages and the use of the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages (EPOSTL) in monitoring and promoting the development of student teachers’ self-awareness. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to establish the levels of the student teachers’ self-awareness. Results show that the student teachers’ self-awareness developed from the first to the second year of the study. Data analysis also indicates that the EPOSTL is a good tool for promoting student teachers’ self-awareness.
