Comparison of Corrosion Parameters for CuAlNi Alloy in Various Heat Treated States

In this work the comparison of corrosion parameters and surface morfology of variuos heat treated states of CuAlNi shape memory alloy before and after potentiodynamic polarization measurement was presented. These measurements were performed on samples in as- casted state (A), after solution annealing at 900 °C for 1 hour (B) and tempering at 300 °C 1 hour (C). After solution annealing and tempering the samples are cooled in water. Corrosion measurement was performed in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution at 25 °C. Surface morphology of samples was investigated by optical microscopy. Martensitic microstructure before corrosion testing was observed. After corrosion tests the intergranular corrosion in all samples was noticed, along with pitting corrosion on tempered sample.
