The connection of the rhythm test results and the grade in performing obligatory ball routine in rhythmic gymnastics
Rhythmic gymnastics is a conventional - aesthetic sport characterized by the unity of the movement of the complete body, supplemented by the gymnast’s apparatus manipulation, all being in harmonic relation with music, which is the constituent part of all of the moves (Wolf - Cvitak, 2004). The success in rhythmic gymnastics is determined by the motor abilities of the athlete and her artistic - aesthetic characteristics (unity of music and moves, expression ability, beauty and the personality of the rhythmic gymna st). The influence of rhythm on the success in rhythmic gymnastics is scientifically established (Miletić i sur. 1998, 2004 ; Srhoj, 1989 ; Persicshini i sur. 1998). The aim of this paper was to determine the connection of the rhythmic abilities assessment t ests and the mark in performing obligatory ball routine. No statistically relevant connection of the rhythm tests and the mark in performing obligatory ball routine was determined by applying regression analysis on the sample of 60 female students of Facul ty of Kinesiology in Zagreb. The gained results suggest the complexity of the performance assessment in rhythmic gymnastics. Apart from motor abilities, assessment includes manual dexterity of the athlete as well as the artistic value of the routine (perso nality and the gymnast’s „sensation“of the routine).
