Measurements of VLF radio emission and electrophonic sounds were performed together with video observations during the activity of the Leonid meteor shower in 1998 over Mongolia. A number of VLF events were detected simultaneously with the observation of bright fireballs. We also succeeded in detecting electrophonic sounds. Surprisingly, the results suggest that they were not related with any significant VLF activity. The sounds were heard by two or more observers, and recorded by microphones. Analysis of the complete data set is still in progress. |
