Kinematic changes and their Influence on the Durability of Universal Joints

Various theoretical models for determining the durability of universal joints are proposed in literature, so that their evaluation and comparision with test results helps to aquire knowledge of the universal joint operational principles. The papaer considers, therefore, the connection between dinamic behaviour of universal joint and the damage that occurs. Since the paper performance of un iversal joints is directly relatde to the performance of universal joint journal bearings, monitoring and analysing the damage initiation and development are necessary for the evaluation of safety and durability.
