Hormonal replacement therapy: influence on serum lipids and Doppler-derived parameters in the postmenopausal women with high plasma concentrations of lipoprotein Lp(a)
An investigation has been carried out in 29 postmenopausal women with high blood levels of lipoprotein Lp(a), in which the hormonal replacement therapy has been administered in combination with oestradiol and norethiestrone acetate during 15,38 +/- 11,35 months. The control group was formed by 11 women in menopausis with high levels of Lp(a) who refused to take hormonal replacement therapy. The hormone replacement therapy should be used in postmenopausal women because it can prevent the development of coronary heart disease and thereby reduce the high mortality of cardiovascular diseases.
