Towards a conceptualization of a new food production system in Slavonia and Vojvodina
This paper explores a strategic framework for developing a new food production system in Slavonia and Vojvodina. Although these two regions are located in different states, they have been faced with the same transitional challenges in this area. The main aim of this paper is to unveil these challenges bearing in mind European trends. The research method is based on the analysis of factors that block or slow down institutional and market impulses coming from the European environment in high value-added food production. Insufficient supply of authentic (regional), productive entrepreneurship and the low efficiency of a regional innovation system are identified as the main barriers. According to the proposed recommendations, a new food production system in Slavonia and Vojvodina should be based on autopoiesis and co-opetition principles. The crucial precondition is that all participants should be focused on achieving the desired results in ways that benefit a variety of interests.
