An accurate absolute-scale measurement of bremsstrahlung following absorption of incident X and gamma rays

(Part of abstract) The spectrum of bremsstrahlung due to photoelectrons ejected by incident photons of energy 59.5 keV was measured. Two germanium detectors and a fast-slow coincidence system were used in the measurements. One detector was used as the scatterer and the other as detector of bremsstrahlung radiation. A detailed analysis was made of the detected events taking inti account various detector-to-detector cross-talk processes. The measurement yielded a clear spectrum of bremsstrahlung radiation which could be determined on absolute scale. A simple theoretical model gives results in a good agreement with the experimental data.
