Influence of stress on the progression of periodontal disease
The interaction of personal factors and social environment is the potential for the rapidly progressive periodontitis. These findings are of special interest for us, because they link the obvious progression of periodontitis in persons that were under permanent stress during the war in our country. Data from recent periodontal literature point out the indispensability of finding new diagnosis procedures for persons with risk for progressive forms of periodontitis. This would be an additional diagnostic based on biochemical, immunochemical and microbiological tests of saliva and gingival crevicular fluid. On the base of these criteria it would be possible to define persons under risk among all periodontitis patients. We defined indicators of the host response in unstimulated saliva of persons that have been under war stress and with progressive periodontitis. Results from these researches unable better noticing of the incidence and course of the rapidly progressing periodontitis and consequence of this disease.
