Petrological, phase equilibrium and geochronological studies on the metamorphic rocks of the Slavonian Mts., NE Croatia: pre-Variscan to Alpine polymetamorphic history of a Variscan(?) unit

The metamorphic rocks of the Slavonian Mts., located in NE Croatia on the SW edge of the Pannonian Basin toward the Dinarides, belong to the Tisia Mega-Unit...Since all localities were traditionally considered to be part of the same tectono-metamorphic unit, evidence presented here clearly shows that this cannot be the case. We therefore propose a more complex internal structure and metamorphic history for this area than previously recognized suggesting a metamorphic evolution of the Slavonian Mts. that includes a pre-Variscan, a Variscan and an Alpine cycle.
