The Role of Ionic Liquids in Enzyme-Membrane Integrated Systems

Integration of bioconversion and product separation process, as well as process intensification, are in a focus of scientific community for some time now due to necessity to develop processes that are environmentally friendly, spend less chemicals, energy, have higher yields and generate more profit. In this chapter the role of ionic liquid in such integrated systems with membrane separation processes will be presented and discussed. Besides traditional membrane systems and reactors, newer and modern concepts will be discussed.
