Influence of Special hospital Naftalan on termal and health tourism development in Zagreb County
Health tourism has becoming more and more important in tourist movements, with all its modern concepts of industry of health. The trend can also imply on Croatia, especially on its northwest part, including the Zagreb counrty. This part of Croatia is very rich with thermal springs and mineral waters, but also with source of naftalan (medicinal oil) found near Zagreb, in Ivanić Grad. Thanks to this discovery in 1989 in Ivanić Grad is founded Special hospital „Naftalan“, modern sanatorium which became known for its treatments of skin illnesses. Hospital is now relatively small, bur using its good position (near Zagreb) rich resources of naftalan oil, low prices and with more advertising, it can become one of the most important factors of health and thermal tourism development in Zagreb county. Except “Naftalan” hospital in Croatia, there is only one more sanatorium like that in the world, and that is Baku, Azerbaijan, which is also one of the reasons for people from all parts of Croatia and Europe could come here and become push factor for development of thermal and health tourism in this area.
