Expert Tool for Loading a Transport Network Database

The extreme complexity of transport networks with SDH and PDH elements requires an advanced Information System for configuration monitoring and management, where formalised rules for describing manageable elements should be included. These rules are implemented in an expert tool, named Transport Network Designer (TND). TND system consists of four segments: Network Element Designer Application (NED), Equipment Designer Application (EQD), Network Topology Designer Application (NTD), and Repository database. After a description of the conceptual model of transport network database (TRNET), the database part of the expert tool (called Repository database), together with NED, EQD and NTD applications, is highlighted. NED, EQD and NTD are user-friendly intelligent graphical tools for creating and interconnecting network components in the transport network database (TRNET). NED and EQD and NTD are programmed in C++ for Windows platforms.
