Dalmatian klapa singing. Changes of context
The article concerns klapa singing, an urban vocal style of Dalmatian coast and islands. Today it is still characterised by a performing context which traditionally emphasises a close relationship between the group of male singers (klapa) and listeners, but at the same time it exists as a form of organised folk music amateurism presented by mass media, at concerts and festivals. The forms, functions adnd meanings of klapa singing are analysed with regard to changes of its performing context in the last three decades. The concept of folklorisation of folklorism is introduced in order to explain a contemporary trend.
