UGTD simulation for 900MHz single-floor path loss measurements
The propagation parameters of indoor digital radio-communications are predominantly limited by multipath fading. A good assessment for some of these parameters (i.e. path loss) needs relatively simple models to be employed. The parameters that strongly influence on inter-symbol interference, like rms delay spread and power delay profile, need complex algorithms for their analytical evaluation. The most powerful tool for these calculations is Uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction UGTD, and this paper presents results of single-floor measurements of narrow-band signal at 900MHz, and their analytical confirmation. Acceptable matching between measured and predicted results could mean that calculation for single-floor problems may be undertaken with 2D ray-tracing technique instead of relatively complex 3D algorithms.
