Nanotechnology in pharmacy & medicine

The objective is to introduce concepts and basic principles in nanotechnology applied to the pharmaceutical sciences and to the entire body of medicine. The lectures will highlight the main challenges, trends, pitfalls and solutions to problems relevant to the health of patients. The patient is the CENTER of attention. The aim is to provide, with minimal harm, diagnostics and therapeutics made especially effective by way of nanotechnology. The key questions are: How can we utilize nanotechnological products to achieve greater drug efficacy and potency? How can we reduce undesirable side effects of drugs? How can we improve ADME of selected drugs? How can we exploit nanotechnological materials for diagnostic purposes? Are nanosensors better than established immunoassays, and if so - why? What are the regulatory requirements for nanotherapeutics specifically and for nanomedicine globally? Why does the safety of nanotherapeutics and nanodiagnostics require a toxicological methodology beyond the conventional established ones?

nanomedicine; nanopharmaceutics; diagnostics; regenerative medicine
