Acute blood flow alterations within sciatic nerve following its transection
It is well known that severe ischemia of peripheral nerve results in substantial nerve damage. Most of the animal models used in neuropathic pain research use some kind of procedure that reduces or completely interrupts blood flow in neuronal tissue under investigation. However, the effects of these interventions are not known. We decided to investigate the extent of blood flow changes in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and at different sites along the sciatic nerve in major neuropathic pain models: spinal nerve ligation (SNL), chronic constriction injury (CCI) and neuroma model. Our preliminary results include only the analysis of the peripheral nerve blood alteration following neuroma model.
