The capacity of working memory in children with hearing impairment and children with insufficiently developed speech
This poster presents results of a study carried out at School Department oft he SUVAG Polyclinic. Subjects & Methods. The study included first- to fourth- grade children (aged 7-10) with diagnosis of insufficiently developed speech and children with hearing impairment (with CI and hearing aid) whose listening abilities are very well but their speech has not progressed in the same way. The capacity of working memory(visuo-spacial and verbal working memory) wastested and the results were compared. Verbal working memory was tested by a series of numbers and letters (in advance and in reverse). The Speed Memo game was used to assess the capacity of visuo-spacial memory. Results. Results obtained on the capacity of working memory were compared with level of speech development between these two groups. I tried to find any connection between the capacity of working memory and the level of speech development in the two groups.
