Direct MALDI-TOF wine fingerprinting protocol for assesment of white wine authenticity
Here we represent simple, fast and reproducible protocol for white wine fingerprinting based on direct matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI) linear time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry and statistical interpretation of the obtained data using principal component and cluster analysis. For this purpose protocol development followed by comparison and classification of 33 Croatian white wine MALDI linear TOF mass spectra fingerprints was performed. The α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (dissolved in ACN/0.1%TFA (1/1, v/v) mixed with the white wine sample in a volume ratio 1:1 and volume deposition technique provided the highest mass spectral information content and optimal reproducibility.
