Inertial navigation system –possible new technology for surgery navigation presentation of future study
Aim of the research are new techniques for more precise transfer of planned surgical procedure in clinical practice. Technology advancement enabled better and more accurate 3D preoperative planning of surgical operation and transfer of such a plan in the operating room via inertial navigation system. The system is a combination of gyroscopes and accelometer and allows precise 3D orientation of the object in space. Experimental model of the skull, created in the current project, will be used to simulate orthognathic surgery, and determine the accuracy this technology is currently available devices.
