Classification and usability of aggregates on Bosiljevo - Josipdol motorway
The Bosiljevo - Josipdol section is a part of the main motorway from Croatian inland to the sea, which is recently under construction. The researched section length is about 27.5 km. On this section there are 41 designed objects, including three bridges over karst rivers: Dobra, Mreznica and Bistrica. Researched area is a part of the typical dinaric karst belt. The main problems during all geological works were very distinct paleorelief, pollution vulnerability of karst groundwater, and the fact that some areas of the terrain are still minefields remained from the war. Based on these investigations, the rock mass was classified according to "General Technical Conditions for Road Construction". Aggregates excavated from motorway cuts were categorized in three categories (A, B, C), and these categories determined the usability of material for use in motorway construction (fills). The part of material that is of no use for that purpose will be disposed beside the motorway body. That is the solution for disposing problem, and it also will increase slope stability of the road fills.
