Temporal Recommender System as a mean of helping customers in finding the right service

Modern way of life presents people with a variety of choices regarding various services and choosing the right service that will result in customers’ satisfaction with that service becomes more and more difficult. In order to optimize customer’s search process for the right service that would fulfill the customer’s expectations a temporal recommender system is proposed. Along with the need for a service there is often the need to satisfy some desired time constraint. Users are frequently limited with amount of time they have and they require a time-specific service in order to successfully complete some task or goal. The basic principles of a temporal recommender system capable of providing customers with suggestions on various services where time is essential are described and discussed in this paper along with the conducted study which focuses on the temporal aspect of decision making and, by employing neural networks, proves that time is an essential factor in the process of making the decision. Finally, a prototype of a temporal recommender system is explained and guidelines for future research are also given.
