GUIDL: Developing a programming language for the visually impaired
Visually impaired programmers have become confronted with a number of problems regarding creation of graphical user interfaces as these kind of interfaces started to be widely used by computer users. In order to make visually impaired programmers able to create graphical user interfaces and to participate with their ideas in the design part of overall software development a new programming language has been proposed and named GUIDL (Graphical User Interface Description Language). GUIDL language is designed to be suitable for visually impaired which required for GUIDL to meet a number of demands in order to be simple enough and easy to use. A process of developing GUIDL language is described and discussed in this paper along with GUIDL grammar. The usage of intelligent assistant that would be able to understand natural language is also mentioned as a possible approach for making creation of graphical user interfaces even simpler for visually impaired programmers.
